Abstract: We report the detection of dInglesue virus type 4 (DENV-4) for the first time in Easter Island, Chile. The virus was detected in serum samples of two patients treated at the Hospital in Easter Island. The two samples were IgM positive, and the infection was confirmed by RT-PCR and genetic sequencing, viral isolation was possible with one of them. The Easter Island isolates were most closely related to genotype II of dInglesue type 4.
